How to Make Custom Clothes & Furniture in Heartopia! Sanrio Kuromi Tutorial
Do you want to know how to make cute custom clothing like a Kuromi sweater? Once you hit D.G. Member Level 14, everyone unlocks Painting Mode! This feature opens up a whole new world of customization for your character and home.
Here is your complete guide to unlocking painting tools, designing custom clothes, and creating unique furniture in Heartopia.
1. How to Unlock Painting Mode
Immediately upon re-entering your game after reaching Level 14, you will receive a quest from Kaching called "Jean Marin's Letter".
- Accept the Quest: Kaching mentions she has painting tools for you to try out.
- Buy the Drawing Board: Go to Kaching's shop and purchase a Drawing Board for 2,000 Gold.
- Start Painting: Find a scenic location (like in front of the fountain) to set up your board.
Tip:
You have multiple canvas options with different aspect ratios. Pick a basic square to start getting used to the controls!
2. Creating Your First Artwork
The painting tools might seem limited at first, but you can create amazing pixel art.
- Grid Toggle: Snap off the grid to see your work clearly without lines.
- Album: View and edit your completed artworks anytime in the Album. You can even copy a piece to create different color variations!
Once you finish your first painting, return to Kaching to turn in the quest. She will be ecstatic with your work!
3. Designing Custom Clothing (Tailoring)
Kaching will explain that you can now use Clothing Templates as your canvas. This uses Tailoring Tickets, which allow you to craft custom designs.
- Where to Craft: You don't need to go back home! There is a Crafting Table in the middle of town.
- Choose a Template: Pick from various patterns (sweaters, mini skirts, etc.).
- Start Designing: Click on a piece of clothing to start customizing.
Design Tools Overview
- Mirror Mode: The button next to pixel size. Whatever you draw on the left is copied to the right. Use this for symmetrical designs!
- Pixel Size: Change thickness (1 is default) for finer or bolder lines.
- 2D/3D Toggle: Switch between 2D drawing view and 3D model view to see how it looks on your character.
4. Tutorial: Making a Sanrio Kuromi Sweater
Inspired by amazing creators on TikTok, here is how we made a cute Kuromi sweater.
- Reference Images: It helps to have a reference! Screenshot designs you like from social media to use as a guide.
- Front Panel: Draw the face and details. Use the gray palette for shading and lace details.
- Back & Sleeves: Don't forget there are 3 total panels (Front, Back, Sleeves).
- Important: Make sure to color a line around the edge of each piece if you want to dye it in big blocks.
Warning:
You only have 5 Tailoring Tickets initially! Use them sparingly. Double-check your design (especially white spaces you might have missed coloring) before confirming!
5. Completed Custom Clothing
Once satisfied, hit confirm at the crafting bench. It costs 1 Ticket.
The result? A custom outfit that looks incredible in 3D! The details pop way more in-game than on the design screen.
6. Customizing Furniture
After finishing the clothing quest, visit Kaching one last time to unlock Painted Furniture.
- Resource: This uses Clip Art Ink. Like tickets, you only start with 5, so be careful!
- Process: Similar to clothing, pick a furniture template (like a Lamp or Bed).
Example: Custom Lampshade
We designed a lampshade to match the Kuromi sweater.
- Symmetry is Key: Use the mirror button since it's a 360-degree object.
- Lighting Note: If the lamp is OFF, you can barely see the design. Keep this in mind before spending your precious Ink!
